The aim of this brief article is to introduce a new analogy (a simple pendulum) for the motion of the universe. The analogy provides a useful mental picture for the reader. Most verbal descriptions, especially of the motion for a flat universe, do not invoke a mental picture to tie with common experience. None of References 1 to 19 uses the pendulum analogy or focuses on the final phase of the expansion of a flat universe as an example of asymptotic behavior. The pendulum analogy provides a tool and a first step to help understand the motion of universe. This short article is intended for physics and astronomy teachers and is no more than a very minor contribution to cosmology; however, it should resonate with physics professors in the classroom.
